Ian Walton, CFP®

I have been involved in the financial services industry since commencing my career in 1988.

I started with the Standard Bank Group as a financial advisor to the agricultural clients of the bank. This entailed giving financial advice to farmers and advising the bank on agricultural financial policy. At the time of leaving the bank I was in middle management.

In order not to lose hands-on experience and to broaden my horizons, I moved to The Liberty Group in January 1993 as a consultant. In this time I have built a client base which is loyal by giving honest advice and good old-fashioned service.

In 1993 I married Kerry, whom with I have had two daughters, Amanda and Melissa. In keeping with my “work hard, play hard” ethic, I enjoy endurance sports such as ultra distance running and triathlons. I hold a Comrades green number and have completed 8 Iron Man races.

In 2010, My family and I, moved to Pietermaritzburg for a more sedate life. I  commute regularly to Johannesburg to see my existing clients as well as my clients all over South Africa.

I also have thousands of bees “working hard” for me in an apiary I run as a hobby and small business near Addo in the Eastern Cape. (I have long ago grown immune to bee stings!) Sometimes, clients are lucky to find me “in stock” during consultation.
